CAEN India is proud to present the CAEN Academy Tour – India Edition, a series of hands-on training events dedicated to the latest generation of CAEN digitizers and the Sci-Compiler FPGA development environment. This initiative brings advanced digital signal processing and firmware design closer to the local scientific and engineering community, offering a unique opportunity to explore modern data acquisition technologies through direct interaction with CAEN hardware and experts.
WHERE
-
Mumbai: Saturday April 11th
Oasis Banquets, Vidhyarthi Marg, Chembur -
Delhi: Monday April 13th
Inter University Accelerator Center (IUAC) -
Kolkata: Thursday April 16th
Bose Institute
The program combines technical lectures, live demonstrations, and practical laboratory sessions. Participants will be introduced to the architecture and key features of CAEN’s 2nd Generation Digitizers, including the x2740, x2745, x2730, and x2751 series, designed for high-performance real-time digital signal processing in nuclear and scientific applications.
The training will also provide a comprehensive overview of the Sci-Compiler graphical environment, showing how custom FPGA firmware can be created without writing HDL code. Using block-diagram design and automated VHDL generation, attendees will learn how to implement and deploy digital algorithms quickly and efficiently on CAEN hardware platforms.
During the hands-on sessions, participants will work directly with a CAEN SMART evaluation kit connected to their own PC. They will build, compile, upload, and test real data acquisition firmware, implementing functions such as oscilloscope operation, scalers, charge integration, and pulse shape discrimination (PSD). The program will also introduce the use of CAEN SciSDK tools in Python and C++ for system configuration, control, and data readout.
The training includes access to the SMART Kit during the sessions, example projects, technical documentation, and direct support from CAEN specialist.
